@roadtripusa123: Bethlehem Steel—A Giant of American History 🇺🇸 Construction of the first blast furnace began in 1860, and operations started in 1863. The towering furnaces seen at SteelStacks today came later, with the oldest dating to 1915. Massive machinery, enormous steel structures, and generations of hardworking men and women helped build America. Standing beneath these giants in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, history feels larger than life. #sightseeing #SteelStacks #AmericanHistory #trucker #industrial
That plant will never run again it would cost at least 8 billion to restore and there are more modern plants that are smaller and produce more steel efficiently!
