Yet in 1796, at just 26 years old, he took command of the Army of Italy and won victory after victory against armies that outnumbered his own. Crowned emperor in 1804, he turned France into a war machine. In 1805 at Austerlitz, he crushed the Russian and Austrian armies in a single day. The victory is still considered his tactical masterpiece. Prussia, Austria, Italy, Spain, Poland: French armies advanced everywhere. By around 1812, the French Empire and its allied states stretched from Hamburg to Rome, and nearly all of continental Europe lived under his influence. But ambition came at a price. The disastrous Russian campaign of 1812 destroyed his Grande Armée, and the European coalitions finally brought him down. Actually, modern genetics tells us that the whole "pure race" idea doesn't really have a biological basis. People have been mixing and interacting throughout history, so no group has kept its genetics completely to itself. So basically, in a world where pure race isn't a thing, racism and extreme nationalism don't make any sense.
