@thetimes: Why has this town become known as the “Dubai of Brazil”? This is Balneário Camboriú, a coastal town in southern Brazil known as the “Dubai of Brazil”. This former fishing village is home to eight of the ten tallest buildings in the country. One is Yacht House, an 81-storey tower with five swimming pools and its own yacht park. Footballer Neymar has a penthouse. Under construction nearby is Senna Tower which will be the world's tallest apartment building where apartments will go for as much as £25 million. But now it has also become known as “Bolsonaro City” #bolsonaro #lula #brazil #dubai #southamerica

I come from this state, and I am so ashamed 😮‍💨

cammy :

the water on the front beach is dirty, the buildings built with the approval of the council covers the sun of the beach through most of the day so you cant sun bath...the city is relatively safe and full of tourists mostly from argentina. It is an okayish place but brazil got much nicer places to visit

Brazil is no different to any other democratic country. Party tribalism stalls progress. Politics does not have to be chaotic. Unfortunately, hope resets memory. Voters fall for slogans and elect more chaos. It happens in many countries. Democracy needs to reinvent itself. 😳😳😳

edouard :

It's not a well-known place, and certainly not comparable with Dubai. Many Brazilians will never have heard of it and almost no one visits.
