@sandandseadance: ‘CARRY US FOWARD’ 🤎 Our DanceRites debut. Sand & Sea’s song and dance creation, Carry Us Forward, holds deep cultural significance as it celebrates a mixed troupe of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young women, reflecting the unique connection to our tropical Far North Country, islands and ancestral lineage. The story represents the next generation carrying forward the stories, teachings and knowledge of their ancestors, while honouring their connection to the rainforest, reef, sand and sea. With a strong focus on family, culture and belonging, the performance brings many Nations together as one dance family, celebrating local stories, unity and empowering young people to follow their dreams. It reflects cultural pride, strength and identity through the guidance of Elders, cultural markings, adornment and art, while showcasing the diversity of our communities and the importance of continuing culture for generations to come. The costuming represents the connection to earth, with animal markings across the chest. The net skirt represents connection to the ocean. The girls’ individual paint represents their family lines which are all different and special. 🐚 🌊 ☀️ 🌿 👣 Music Production & Singing: @YIRGJHILYA Choreography: SAND & SEA DANCE TROUPE Contemporary Dance Elements: Caitlin Sands
