Before we open the lines, we make a circle. ❤️🙏 After the drive, the trailer is unpacked, the bins, boxes and bags are emptied, the tables are set up, the clothes are organized and the food is unwrapped. Then, before we begin serving, we pause to pray. We pray for the people we’re about to serve, the people that didn’t find us yet and for the volunteers that gave up their Saturday to pour love into the people so many others won’t even look at. We ask for blessings over the food and all the provisions we are about to distribute. We had so many volunteers at our October outreach that our prayer circle was HUGE! What a blessing to see so many people come together with hearts willing to serve. We do what we do because that’s what Jesus told us to do. Feed the hungry. Welcome the stranger. Clothe those in need. Love our neighbors. The people we serve are never required to join our circle, but many choose to. We serve without obligation. But there’s something beautiful about standing together in prayer before sharing a meal. In that circle, we’re simply neighbors, each with our own burdens, each loved by God. This is the heart of Matthew’s Light. This is compassion in action. ❤️
