I am a certified vaccination and Nationally Certified tech that gives the majority of all of our vaccines and even my normal tech work load has dramatically increased and my pharmacy corporate office don’t care to pay me adequately based on my qualifications and experience. I love what I do but I am now contemplating leaving due to all you stated and more. It’s not worth my sanity and I’m in Tuscaloosa, Al

my store is fairly low volume (200-300 scripts per day) but next week, corp has only given us enough tech hours to work one and a half techs per day. when I was the overnight pharmacist at a 24hr store, the day shift was constantly struggling with the work load and had fewer tech hours than stores doing similar or fewer scripts per day bc pharmacist overnight hours (no overnight techs, just 1 pharmacist working alone) are taken out of the tech budget. make it make sense

Corporate has been staying suspiciously silent for a reason these last few years. I think for sure they have changes coming for business model that remains to be seen. Last I checked CVS had 36% market share for PBMs which automatically changes financial incentives and don’t forget PBMs line politician pockets

When I started in rx back in 2014 there was also 4 techs working every single shift during the day time and now in 2026 2 techs is the normal amount at a time daily which sucks because now there is more work like you mentioned than in 2014 but we have to work with less techs. It’s so frustrating.

I just wish I could sue of emotional damage or something. if i was a lawyer I would have definitely made this a case and also CVS is the reason why I didnt wanna become a pharmacist

I’m at a low volume target maybe 120-300 scripts a day. I’m the only tech Monday - Friday. So imagine voicemails, calls from insurance, doctor calls, patient calls, patient pick up, drop off, shots etcetc. It’s A LOT on me. Oh not to mention it’s 1 pharmacist

In my area, the Rite Aids were fairly close and with that chain closed, our patient volume increased 😔

Don’t forget now they will have less pharmacist and more techs coming soon. The ratio will change January. Question is where will they get these techs they are hiring but no one is applying.

when i was at cvs last year we were promised a nurse to come and exclusively do vaccines all day multiple times, so we didn't schedule a tech to specifically do immunizations and the nurse NEVER showed up

i just feel so bad for everyone working at our local pharmacies, i know they're busting their balls, i can see it on their faces[Innocent] and there's frequently some Karen causing a fuss for no GD reason. we're all waiting Karen, STFU and sit down.

I’m gonna tell you why too it’s bec qualified applicants are being asked to take assessment tests and asked stupid questions about customer service situations, workflow procedures and behavior questions and allegedly failing. I had a pharmacist at a small store near me practically begging me to reapply bec she was overwhelmed so I did. After hounding her for results she said oh you failed the assessment I can’t hire you. I’m sorry I failed the assessment by answering questions correctly what was I supposed to do lie. They can’t get techs bec everyone fails the stupid assessment and walking in to speak to the pharmacy manager gets you oh did you apply on our website. It’s ridiculous. It’s also bec they follow a store scheduling model pharmacy or no pharmacy. They staff heavy during peak times and cut hours during slow season it’s a typical retail store payroll trick. “They’ll figure it out” is the motto, grocery stores do it all the time.
