A concerning amount of people have asked “why was it still standing in the first place”, and the simple answer is, when parts of history, good and bad, get wiped away completely, we forget, it doesn’t get taught to newer generations, and unfortunately horrible patterns repeat themselves. History is one of the only subjects I think people SHOULD fully be aware of and knowledgeable with, so questions like this don’t appear.

To everyone in the comments wondering WHY it and the camps still stand today insteadof being torn down, it is because it's to preserve history and show the evil that lead the holocaust and what happened during it. it's not glorifying it. If you get rid of historical things especially bad things guess what you make it easier for history to repeat itself. it is kept to learn to not repeat what came before.
