A woman can possess profound knowledge without a degree. A person can earn academic honors without developing compassion or wisdom. And historically, access to formal education was unequal. Many universities excluded women for centuries, even while using the feminine image of a mother to describe their institutions. For example, Yale did not admit women as undergraduates until 1969. There is an irony worth exploring: institutions could use maternal language while limiting women’s access to institutional authority. That does not prove a coordinated plan to erase the divine feminine. It does illustrate how a feminine symbol can survive even when women themselves are excluded from positions of power. To honor this, I wrote this poem: Magna Mater, the Great Mother, Once honored as life’s divine source. Mary Magdalene, her own truth untold, While men held the power to interpret the soul. Then came Alma Mater, the nurturing name, But who held the power, and who was denied the same? The Mother’s name survived in history’s halls, While women stood outside the institution’s walls. They kept the symbol, but questioned her authority. They honored the Mother in name, But did they honor her in reality? Stay BADDIE BIRDIE bougie & fly Y’all! 🏆🏸❤️🌹
