@cgtneurope: A spectacular “space jellyfish” lit up the sky over China, with people capturing the glowing, jellyfish-shaped plume from a flight over Taiyuan, Shanxi Province. The phenomenon occurs when sunlight illuminates a rocket’s exhaust high in the atmosphere against a darker sky, lasting only a few minutes. The Long March-6A rocket lifted off at 6:15 p.m. Beijing time, carrying the Yaogan-50 03 satellite into its planned orbit. To catch a “space jellyfish,” conditions need to be just right: a launch shortly after sunrise or before sunset, clear skies near the ground, and a viewing location east of the sunset line, where darker skies create a stronger contrast with the sunlit plume. #China #Space #RocketLaunch #SpaceJellyfish #Science
