I always put my keys in my pocket that way they cant take it, but yes they hey can “ temporarily” take your keys off your bike. It’s legal as long as as they have probable cause on a lawful traffic stop. I always ride with a ziplock bag with my ID, insurance, and registration in it to give it to them and if the stop unlawful like this probably is I always file a complaint and fight it later in court. They usually drop it before then. 😂😂😂
