Why would anyone want to do that? The whole point of the device is that you can switch from open to closed and the running app will switch too. It’s not a folding tablet that you want to turn off when you close it. Completely defeats the point.

you don’t have to do all this just tell siri to create a shortcut to lock the phone when it’s closed, she handled it in seconds for me

You can take it a step further to know if an app is open. If an app is open and you close, it won’t lock. If you’ve swiped the app away and you close, it locks. That’s what I have.
