@unlocking.the.myst: Molly Ringwald Says the Pretty in Pink Line Fans Quote to Her Most Often Is About Not Being Broken Molly Ringwald starred in some of the biggest hits of the 1980s. Now she says one line from them comes up again and again. Ringwald, 58, told PEOPLE that fans quote one line to her more than any other. It comes from Pretty in Pink, the 1986 film. “I just want to let them know that they didn’t break me,” she said. Her character, Andie Walsh, says it while getting ready to go to the prom alone. Ringwald thinks she knows why it sticks with people. “That’s a line that seems like it has resonated with a lot of people, because high school is really hard,” she said. She said she sees that firsthand. She has twins, Adele and Roman, who are 17 and in their junior year. “A lot of it has changed, but there are certain things that have not changed at all,” she said. She also shared how she feels about being called an icon of the decade and a member of the Brat Pack. “It’s definitely a compliment, even if I don’t see myself that way,” she said. “I just consider myself a working actor and a working mother,” she added. “I don’t see myself as legendary at all, but it’s nice.” Ringwald has also partnered with Pfizer to raise awareness about pneumococcal pneumonia.
