I never asked anyone if I should join the force. If I didn’t think I could handle the job, I wouldn’t have been a police officer. I got on the job in 1986👮🚔

I think women are critical of other women in LE because we are often grouped together. When one woman makes a mistake or can’t handle themselves we all get treated worse. Not fair but that’s the reality.

Just finished FTO today as the first person in years in my department to have their FTO time go unextended. I’ve had crazy level calls and low level days where we’re lucky to get 2 good traffic stops and my FTO Sgt said every week that he’s grateful to have nothing to critique. I’ve calmed so many scenes down and talked people off of literal roofs. A female’s presence in law enforcement is rarely a hinderance, rather is beneficial in so many situations.

Love your takes on this!! I start the academy December and I deserve to be there just as much as the men do. My grandmother was part of the first gender integrated police academy class in LAPD total of 3 women in that class. To hear what some people have to say about women in LE is disgusting especially other women! 🥲

It amazes me how much other women can tear other women down. I absolutely plan on building up other females on this job, if I can get into law enforcement. We need to realize as women, we bring a completely different perspective and experience than men do, we need to be ourselves and only strive to be OUR best in Law Enforcement. We do have a lot to offer to the job. Thank you for sharing this!

As a female cop, my goal is always to lift other females. I once was told by a chief I had women are viscous because only one of us is going to get promoted or get the speciality spot. If there are 3 Sgt spots open 2 will usually be men and maybe 1 woman will get it. I’m a mentor to our female cops as we hire them and I love watching them grow. But it’s a real problem.

I used to work in LE. women are needed in LE. there are some great women I've met that are amazing officers. but the downside, there are a lot of them that will hate you for no other reason than you doing a good job or being too "proactive". that is why I got out. sometimes doing a good job, gets you nothing but shards in the back.

imagine you're in a shoot out, You are deployed with a partner female officer, against an armed criminal and you are a man weighing 225LBs, God forbid you are shot wounded, and she doesn't have the strength to drag you to safety Whereas a male officer would have easily dragged you to back of vehicle to safety

I’m in law enforcement. Been in 12 years. I’m not a hater on other women in this field but I do hold them to a higher standard especially when I was an FTO. The reason is if a female police officer is bad at something then the perception is ALL females in the profession suck but if a male officer sucks at something, then just he sucks. Women get grouped collectively so I didn’t like women who acted like PickMe’s or weak/frail etc. This is not the field for that. It gives us ALL a bad rap when we are already going through enough with our male colleagues and society doubting us. With that being said, I’ve gotten to know and help coach some of the best officers I have ever met and they just so happened to be women. Women should empower each other but also realize that we are still the minority and society is always watching and wants to catch us slipping.

I wanted to be in law enforcement since I was a kid. However....I have witnessed a lot of women who have no business in this field. I am very critical of female officers as well as myself.

I would NEVER ask a female officer if I should join because they will definitely look at me ugly and be like yeah no
