@healthyandwholefor: Crushing a sheet of paper into the tightest ball you can make gives your hands, forearms, and shoulders a hard squeeze to push against. Then the throw is a clean, fast release. That contrast between all-out effort and sudden letting go gives stored-up tension a way out, instead of leaving it stuck in your body. Grab a sheet of paper and squeeze it into the tightest ball you can for 5-8 seconds. Then throw it as far as you can and let your arms drop and your breath out. Tension needs a place to go. Give it one. 🤍 This content is educational and is not medical advice. Always consult your healthcare provider for medical concerns. 🤍
Interesting technique! ❤️👏 As a vascular surgeon, I’ve come to appreciate how important stress management is for long-term cardiovascular health. Six years into sobriety, I’ve also learned that recognizing tension and frustration before reacting can make a tremendous difference in how we handle difficult situations. I like the simplicity of intentionally tightening your muscles and then releasing them. It reminds me of progressive muscle relaxation, which has been studied for stress reduction. 🌱 I’m curious, have you found any research specifically examining whether this squeezing-and-throwing exercise reduces perceived stress, or is it primarily based on personal experience? I’d be interested in learning more!
