A LITTLE ROYALTY, MADE FROM A 10+ YEAR-OLD FABRIC STASH. 👑🧵✨ I’ve been seeing so many beautiful abaya and kaftan-inspired outfits lately, and I’ve been wanting to try making something with that long, flowy, effortless silhouette. I’m still learning the differences between the styles, but I know I LOVE the look! So, naturally, I went digging through my fabric stash. 😂 This red, black, pink, white, and gray geometric print has been sitting with me for at least 10 years. Honestly, the red is probably why I kept passing it up, but when I saw how much fabric I had, I knew it was perfect for experimenting with this style. I used the entire piece in one go — no little scraps left behind! I added black stretchy cuffs to the sleeves, which worked perfectly with how lightweight and sheer the fabric is. The adjustable design, floor-length fit, and flowy sleeves gave me exactly the look I was going for. It feels so comfortable, feminine, and REGAL! I liked it so much that I made it last night and wore it to work TODAY. 😂💕 That’s how you know a project came together! I’ve already experimented with a shorter version, and I have more ideas for different silhouettes, fabrics, and variations. I’m really enjoying exploring these styles and getting creative with the materials I’ve held onto for years. This is what my sewing journey is looking like lately: pulling out old fabric, making something new, experimenting, and getting back to creating an outfit a day whenever I can. ♻️🪡 AND YES, I’M SHARING WHAT I KNOW! 💗 I’m offering private sewing lessons both virtually and in person, as well as group classes.
