@konah619: A Delaware couple says they experienced a shocking case of alleged racial discrimination while trying to rent an apartment in Flushing, Queens. Lisa Renee Olaso and her fiancé had traveled to New York to tour a property when the real estate agent reportedly sent them a text message that was intended for the property owner. The message read: “ugh they are black” After the couple confronted the agent, she allegedly attempted to unsend the message, but they had already seen it. Olaso and her fiancé say they’re not seeking financial compensation. Instead, they want to share their experience and raise awareness about discrimination in the housing market. Real estate brokerage Douglas Elliman has reportedly terminated the agent following the incident. Do you think firing the agent was enough, or should there be further consequences?
