@humanlife350: Before I start, having a mother wound doesn't automatically make someone a bad person. A lot of people grow up with complicated relationships with their parents. The issue is whether they've healed from it or whether they're unknowingly bringing those wounds into their romantic relationships. If they haven't done the work, you'll often end up paying the price for problems you didn't create. Here are some signs to look out for.👇 --- 1️⃣ HE EXPECTS YOU TO MOTHER HIM One of the biggest clues is that he seems to be looking for a caretaker rather than a partner. At first it looks innocent. He wants help with small things. Then you're reminding him about appointments, helping him manage his life, solving problems he should be solving himself, and constantly encouraging him to do basic adult responsibilities. Over time, you start feeling more like his mother than his girlfriend. --- 2️⃣ HE'S EXTREMELY NEEDY BUT CALLS IT LOVE This is the type of man who constantly needs reassurance, validation, attention, and emotional support. If you don't reply quickly enough, he notices. If you need space, he takes it personally. If your attention is focused elsewhere, he starts feeling neglected. The relationship can become exhausting because you're constantly trying to fill an emotional hole that existed long before you arrived. --- 3️⃣ HE STRUGGLES WITH REJECTION Nobody enjoys rejection. But a man with an unhealed mother wound often reacts to it much more strongly than expected. A small disagreement, criticism, or boundary can trigger an outsized reaction because underneath it all he's reliving feelings that have nothing to do with you. --- 4️⃣ HE PUTS WOMEN INTO TWO CATEGORIES You'll often hear him speak about women in extremes. Women are either amazing or terrible. Angels or villains. Perfect or toxic. Healthy adults understand that people are more complicated than that. When someone constantly swings between idealizing and resenting women, it's usually worth paying attention. --- 5️⃣ HE'S ATTRACTED TO WOMEN WHO NEED SAVING OR WOMEN WHO WILL SAVE HIM A lot of men with mother wounds are drawn to unhealthy dynamics. They're either looking for someone to rescue or someone who will rescue them. Balanced, healthy relationships can actually feel unfamiliar because they don't recreate the emotional patterns they're used to. --- 6️⃣ HE HAS A LOT OF ANGER TOWARD WOMEN THAT DOESN'T MATCH THE SITUATION Maybe every ex was terrible. Maybe every breakup was entirely the woman's fault. Maybe every conversation about women eventually turns into a complaint. When someone carries unresolved anger toward an important female figure from their past, that resentment often spills over onto women who had nothing to do with the original wound. --- 7️⃣ HE'S TERRIFIED OF ABANDONMENT BUT OFTEN CREATES THE VERY THING HE FEARS This is one of the saddest signs. He wants closeness, connection, and love, but his behavior ends up pushing people away. He becomes controlling, overly sensitive, suspicious, or emotionally reactive, and the relationship eventually suffers because of it. Then when it falls apart, it confirms the very fear he was carrying all along. --- One thing I've learned is that wounds don't make people unlovable. But unhealed wounds can make relationships incredibly difficult. That's why it's important to pay attention not just to what someone has been through, but to whether they've taken responsibility for healing from it. --- What's a sign you've noticed that tells you someone still has unresolved issues from their childhood?
