@alex_thevet: I ranked six more common dog products you can buy right now by how useful they actually are, as a vet. Second in the series. All picked from the audience comments on the previous video. There's one product on this list that almost every dog owner has used at some point, and I'd put it in F tier because of the specific injuries I see from it in practice. There's one that gets marketed as essential for puppy owners and actually slows house-training down. And there's one at the top that's cheap, virtually indestructible, and does more good for more dogs than almost anything else on the market. I'm not spoiling the tiers here, watch the video for the calls. Which one do you think you'll disagree with the most? #vetexplains #dogproducts #dogcare #doghealth #vetadvice
the misinformation and misuse of prong collars is so unfortunate. when used correctly and with the right dog, they are a wonderful tool for increasing communication.

You’re wrong about prong collars. They’re no problem and no pain when used correctly.

Spike collars are forbidden by law in Finland. I could never use one of these... The same with shock collars... They are just cruel.

I would rank prong collars at at least an A because good quality made prong collars are great for managing pulling. They don't hurt the dog unless the dog pulls way too hard on it, it works by putting multi point pressure on their neck, what they are not used to feeling, making them connect pulling with being uncomfortable, I have a very good quality e collar too and I use the vibration setting on it, same thing, just uncomfortable enough for the dog to listen, not enough to hurt them.

Having an unsecured dog in a vehicle invalidates your car insurance also - therefore proper crash tested crate/harness needs to be used.

Wrong about prong collars. If you get someone showing you how to use it properly then they cause a lot less issues than a harness with front clips and haltis.

I would tell people to get a crash tested crate for car rides as it’s much safer than a seatbelt harness. Not to say seatbelt harnesses aren’t good but if you’re in a crash, a crash tested crate is much safer and makes sure your dog is safe

Re: coats – FACTS. The only time my husky and malamute use coats is if it’s pouring when I’m taking them out for a midnight pee and I don’t want to be drying them for half an hour after a 5-minute walk (the husky also sleeps in the bed, and prefer my bed dry 💀).

What is the minimum temperature for a Labrador? I live in Scandinavia and I like hiking. While I get that they don’t need it when walking and moving about at what point do you recommend that they have a coat on during breaks and such? And at what temperature do you recommend that they actually have a coat on some days we can get -15?

I’m surprised the car harness isn’t S tier. I figured that is 100% essential for any animal in a car.
