It’s such a beautiful movie. I was so disappointed that only 7 people were at the showing. 4 of which was my family and I.

“the studio felt the existing stop-motion tools and techniques could not handle a story of this size. LAIKA made five other films (ParaNorman, The Boxtrolls, Kubo and the Two Strings, and Missing Link) over 12 years to build up the necessary technical mastery”

Reminder the studio is able to continue these masterpieces because they are supported by a very very profitable company. In a world where profit tends rule reality these steps to suppprt artists expands our ability to learn in grow as people through the media and art around us. If every company making major profits continuously did this we would have a beautiful world around us.

it's a shame that these will never profit but that's why it's got so much value. it will never make money which means they don't need to cater towards profits.

I saw no AI ads thankfully, but in a time so heavily saturated by AI, it’s a breath of fresh air. It was an immaculate, moving, and beautiful piece of art. That inspired me to read the books. The stop motion got so fluid at points, you forget that that’s what it was. If you like art, draw, animation, even just movies or fantasy. I implore everyone to go see it. It is indeed Laika’s Magnum Opus. It was absolutely beautiful in so many ways, you can very much feel the passion in every second.
