@faithrootedforwar: Sometimes control continues through the legal system. That may look like: • Repeated unnecessary filings • Constant threats to “take you back to court” • Refusing reasonable agreements simply to prolong conflict • Using legal expenses to create financial pressure • Repeated disputes over issues already addressed • Using litigation to force continued contact Not every contested case is abusive. People have the right to use the courts to resolve legitimate disputes. But when legal proceedings become part of a broader pattern of intimidation, exhaustion, or control, context matters. Keep records. Stay organized. Follow court orders. And talk with your attorney about patterns that may be legally relevant. The courtroom should resolve conflict—not become another tool for creating it. General legal education only. Court procedures and available remedies vary by jurisdiction. This is not legal advice. Sometimes post-separation control arrives in an envelope stamped with a court date. Legitimate litigation and litigation used as a means of continued control are not necessarily the same thing. Patterns matter. Save this post. Share it with someone who feels like separation simply moved the conflict into the courthouse. #SurvivorAndTheLaw #PostSeparationAbuse #LegalAbuse #CoerciveControl #faithrootedforward
