Can you help advocate for government funding for international medical students that are in line with the actual costs? How is it that gulf countries can fully fund their students to study medicine internationally but the Canadian government provides 0 support? Yet their solution is to hire internationally trained doctors but not support their own citizens who currently study med internationally and intend on returning to practice. Just awful

Dr. My children are studying in Ireland after getting a degree and masters in Canada. Over Four hundred thousand for four years per child. Ontario needs to help or they will have to go to the US.

If you join the military, with an acceptance letter, you get tuition paid & living wage. But you have to give 5 or 6 years to the military. And you get your contributions back to reinvest. My hubby has a pension now with 30 years in and still working.

We said to our kids; love at home. We get a 50% tuition discount from a top uni in Ontario I work at. Let’s make sure you’re not starting life in debt.

Everyone things doctors are rich. These overhead costs and loan repayment adds up. For the amount of work they I’d say they need to be making much more.

In other provinces, BC for example, you start paying back your student loans in residency

Quite realistic. Those numbers are close to mine with no parental help. I was told for family med to estimate 30% each for overhead/tax/take home. If you can take a 1st job with a five-year signing bonus, or do locum with no overhead it helps pay off sooner.
