Did you watch the movie with your eyes and ears closed? He came from nothing and lost everything. He was disfigured and betrayed and he realized that not a single relationship in his life was real and they were all surface level based on what he could provide for them. His sense of self was shattered when he got disfigured because his face was what gave him self worth. Not to mention the nanocells were AI controlled so they had a mind of their own. After he overloaded himself with them they fed on his anger and all his negative emotions and started creating the monster. Matt Hagen became just another character when Clayface took over.

His psychological fall makes perfect sense tho? He tried getting justice the clean way and he got betrayal after betrayal and dissappoint ent after disappointment. He had to take matters into his own hands in the only way he knew how to, he was hurt and lost faith in the people he thought loved him and thus lost faith in humanity or at the very least gotham. Similarly to batmans explanation for why he doesnt kill, matt got a taste of killing and sure the first couple were hard but he was already in too deep and the abyss stared back at him. By the end he was killing clean cops and almost the love of his life. The AI also plays a role into why when he was the most hurt and emotional is when his powers worked best. He used his acting to achieve his goals all throughout the movie. I get this not being ppls favorite movie but some of these takes rlly dont make much sense.

Matt Hagen figuratively died when he got disfigured. His mind got shredded along with his face. He was never gonna be the same again after that due to the physical and mental trauma. Clayface was born in that moment.

I highly disagree, his fall into his psychosis made perfect sense.

I feel like they never made him out to be a good guy, he was always driven by his ego and his looks. when he got healed at first he went to a red carpet to go tell his manager to gfy and they made it clear he holds a lot of resentment towards anyone that has wronged him. they say he can't hold of to the resentment and needs to let things go but he never was able too and it consumed him until he became a monster. even in the beginning he went after a someone in a relationship. I feel like the main aspect was the body horror and to show a villain become a monster

The first kill being accidental is the catalyst for his killing spree. I found that to be a believable descent.

I kind of disagree with the point of you don’t know how or why his psychology changes. It started with him finding out his like lawyer is working with the mob boss that ruined his life and he kills him on accident. That starts the downfall then he finds out his friend betrays him and kills him and that’s when he breaks really and goes on a revenge killing spree. You can see he’s losing his mind losing his mortality. Remember 1st death he was distraught and didn’t know got to feel he was freaked out. Then 2nd death his best friend, he kills him and it breaks them. I feel like if you pay attention how he reacts to each kill he does you’ll see and understand it wasn’t just like a switch it was gradual.

7.5 out of 10 for me. I do feel like it's missing like 10-15 mins. Not completely sure what it was really missing but I did enjoy it. He was very good in the role. Shout out to the other actors doing their best to act like it's him after he switches.

But they do, Clayface’s whole character is lack of a sense of self. One of the lines is literally “where is the real Matt Hagen”

One point i wanna push back on. Its not a matter of hagen origin story, itsva clayface origin story. I believe the reason they told us about matt instead of showing us is that it doesnt matter, because we wont and we never were supposed to care about matt hagen

I felt like it showed us how he went crazy and lost himself through the transition. As for the voices, we just need to suspend our belief. Comic book movie and cant always try to get a science-based answer to everything. Movie for me was a very solid 7.5 out of 10 and im not horror genre guy.

there was a line that hinted towards Mat Hagen and Clayface are different personalities, throughout the movie showed both play together at times and towards the end Mat begs to die
