@georgiapeach1022: 🎖 Medal of Honor 🎖 SSgt. William H. Pitsenbarger 🇺🇸 Vietnam War April 11, 1966 Piqua, Ohio When a fierce firefight erupted near Cam My, Airman First Class William “Pits” Pitsenbarger volunteered to be lowered more than 100 feet into the jungle to help evacuate wounded soldiers. Once on the ground, he refused evacuation again and again—choosing instead to stay behind, treat the wounded, and organize rescues under relentless enemy fire. When helicopters were forced to withdraw and the perimeter was overrun, Pitsenbarger picked up a rifle and fought alongside the surrounded infantry. Even after being wounded multiple times, he continued pulling injured men to safety, distributing ammunition, and returning fire. He stayed until the very end—giving his life while saving others. His courage, selflessness, and devotion to those in his care became a lasting symbol of what it means to never leave a brother behind. #WilliamPitsenbarger #MedalOfHonor #VietnamWarHero #Pararescue #AmericanValor
