In February 2024, at Harvard, Kushner said what he would do in Israel's place: "I would do my best to move the people out and then clean it up." By then Israel's attacks and orders to leave had driven most of Gaza's people from their homes. Nearly 1.5 million were crowded into Rafah. On 19 April 2024 an Israeli air strike hit the Abu Radwan family's home in Tal al-Sultan, Rafah, while the children slept. It killed nine members of the family. Six were children. Amnesty International identified the bomb as an MPR 500 made by IMI Systems, owned since 2018 by Israel's biggest weapons maker, Elbit Systems. In July 2024 Kushner's firm, Affinity Partners, agreed to buy almost a tenth of Phoenix Financial, Israel's biggest insurance company. Israel's Capital Market Authority gave Kushner and his wife permission, by name, to hold it. More than half of what the firm paid was borrowed from Mizrahi Tefahot Bank, which the UN lists among companies involved in Israel's settlements on occupied Palestinian land. CNN reports that Phoenix has held shares in Elbit for more than a decade. In January 2026 Kushner joined the executive board of Trump's Board of Peace, which oversees how Gaza is governed and rebuilt. A month later Trump named him an Envoy of Peace. In July 2026, while he sat on that board, his firm sold a quarter of its Phoenix shares, at more than four times the price it paid, for more than the whole stake had cost. It still owns about 7 percent. No one owns more. None of this shows his firm's money paid for that bomb. It shows one man holding two portfolios: a seat over the future of Gaza, and a stake in Israel's economy.
