A HEARTFELT MESSAGE TO OUR IKA PEOPLE,ESPECIALLY MY LOVELY PEOPLE FROM UMUNEDE KINGDOM. My dear people of Ika land, and particularly those of us who proudly hail from Umunede Kingdom, It is time we speak the truth with love and urgency. Too often, when an Umunede man or woman is asked, “Where are you from?”, the answer comes quickly: “Agbor.” And when pressed further, “Where in Agbor?”, they finally say “Umunede.” This is not right. It diminishes us. The correct and dignified response should always begin with: “I am an Ika man” or “I am an Ika woman.” Only then, when asked where in Ika, should we proudly declare: “Umunede” or whichever of our kingdoms we come from. Yes, some will say, “But Agbor is more popular.” That may be true today. But popularity does not grow by accident. If we do not project our own kingdom, if we do not speak its name with pride, how will the world ever know it? How will our children grow up knowing the beauty and greatness of where they come from? Umunede is not a community. Umunede is not a village. Umunede is a Kingdom a proud kingdom made up of four distinct villages, each with its own quarters: UMUNEDE KINGDOM 1 Obi Village (Eguare) ◦ 3 Quarters: Idumu Obi, Oro, Egweachime, and Isokwe 2 Ilege (Agidi) Village ◦ 6 Quarters: Uhiere, Idumu Afor, Umuojobia, Iba, Ogbeisere, and Ogbe Ohun 3 Oba Village ◦ 3 Quarters: Isiukwa, Ogbeakun, and Idumu Ugbo 4 Ile Village(ILENOBU) ◦ 3 Quarters: Ayomuroko, Esegbena, and Ozoba. This is who we are. This is our structure. This is our identity. Let us stop calling our own kingdom a “village” while elevating another man’s place to the status of a “city.” Every cityis another person’s village(kingdom). Ours is a kingdom treat it as such. Let us begin to showcase Umunede in every positive light. Make videos of our beautiful festivals. Capture the colours, the dances, the songs, the dignity of our people. Post them for the world to see. Tell our stories. Celebrate our heritage. Nobody is coming to build and project our kingdom for us. That sacred duty belongs to us alone. And please it is our responsibility to teach the children, and the younger generation not to be ashamed of where they come from, we should teach them our customs and traditions so they do not make mistakes out of ignorance. Teach them how to greet the King: • A man goes down on one knee, closes his palm, and says “OBI-AGU” three times, then “NITO NEYIFE, ISEE.” • A woman kneels with both legs, rubbing her palms together, offering the same greeting. Teach them how to greet the chiefs, the princes and princesses, the priests and priestesses. Teach them what the land forbids, including the fact that wearing black on black is forbidden in the palace, for it signifies mourning, and the King does not mourn. These are not small things. They are the threads that hold our identity together. When we fail to pass them on, we slowly erase ourselves. The time to correct this is now. Let us speak our true name with pride. Let us raise children who know exactly who they are and where they come from. Let us lift Umunede Kingdom high not because the world already knows it, but so that the world will know it. We are Ika.We are Umunede. And we will no longer hide it. God bless HRM THE OBI OF UMUNEDE KINGDOM!, ALI IKA KA RINMA !!
