A lot of people are missing that it’s hinted Matt never knew who he was to begin with, he always struggled with identity, always felt like an imposter, likely gravitated to acting because it told him who to become. Reiterated in him in the end saying to Caitlin he can be whoever she wants him to be, he doesn’t know who he is, he was never truly Matt Hagan to begin with, Clayface as a form is a reflection of himself unsure of who he is, or if he’s anyone at all. This is just my take, such a great film.

One thing I noticed that was cool was on Matt when he was the homeless man it looked like on his right eye he had a little cut going down from his eyelid I might be mistaken but that’s what it looked like to me and a way for her to know if it was him
