If I recall. The certificate he produced said either “black” or “African American” or something like that, when during the year he was born, the proper “legal term” of the time (I didn’t fucking choose it, don’t shoot the messenger) was “negro”. But that doesn’t appear of his certificate. It uses terminology that wouldn’t be put on paperwork for another like 14 years or so
