@motion.engineer1: A mouse and an elephant get almost the same number of heartbeats in a lifetime 🐭❤️🐘 🐭 Mouse: ~600 bpm × 2 years ≈ 0.6 billion beats 🐘 Elephant: ~30 bpm × 70 years ≈ 1.1 billion beats 📐 Kleiber's law (1932): 200,000× heavier → heart ~20× slower, life ~20× longer (the 4th root of 200,000 ≈ 21) ➗ −¼ + ¼ = 0 → about 1 billion beats for most mammals 🌳 Why? West, Brown & Enquist (1997): blood flows through a branching network, and capillaries are the same size in every mammal. Bigger body = longer pipes = slower heart 🧍 You: ~70 bpm × ~80 years ≈ 3 billion beats — medicine, vaccines and food doubled our lifespan in a century 🏃 A fit heart at 50 bpm instead of 70 = ~10 million fewer beats a year at rest It's a statistical pattern across species, not a countdown inside you 😉 How fast is your resting heart rate?
