On average Azerbajin makes $318USD a flight that flies through their airspace. That’s nearly $130USD million a year. Prior to 2022 they were making about $30USD million a year. Keep in mind this is not pure profit. They have had to invest in upgrading infrastructure and hiring more controllers to facilitate this increased traffic. But it has been a good economic boom for them nonetheless.

Flights from Japan and Europe fly over Canada. I wanted to go around the world and had to travel west the whole way. One part was from Japan to Spain and I flew a Chinese airline (some parts over Russia are allowed). KLM and others flew backwards and added a few hours flight time since it was longer.
