This week, London Safe Pods (Lsp youth) wants to recognise three extraordinary young men whose bravery deserves to be remembered and celebrated. ⭐ DEVONTE CAFFERKEY - AGED 13 ⭐ SAMMY FARAH - AGED 14 ⭐ SHAWN YOUNG - AGED 12 On 21 September 2017, these three schoolboys were simply walking home from school in Waltham Cross when they came across a young man attempting to take his own life on a bridge above the A10. What happened next was nothing short of extraordinary. Rather than walking away, Devonte and Sammy desperately tried to save him, physically holding onto him as he struggled, while 12 year old Shawn ran to find help. With the assistance of two incredibly brave adults, Joanne Stammers and James Higlett, they held on until emergency services arrived. THEY REFUSED TO GIVE UP ON A COMPLETE STRANGER AND THEY SAVED HIS LIFE ❤️ But the most beautiful part of this story? After recovering and leaving hospital, the man actually returned to visit the boys and THANK THEM PERSONALLY. He even brought them JD Sports gift cards as a small gesture of gratitude. Imagine that moment. Three children standing face to face with a man who was still alive because they cared enough to help. These boys went on to receive bravery awards, appear on ITV's This Morning and even travel to America to appear on The Steve Harvey Show. At London Safe Pods Youth, we believe our young people deserve to be recognised for the GOOD they bring into this world. We hear so much about youth violence, knife crime and antisocial behaviour. But what about the young people showing courage, compassion and humanity? THESE ARE THE YOUNG PEOPLE WE SHOULD BE TALKING ABOUT. Yes, this happened nine years ago. But true bravery doesn't have an expiry date. Devonte, Sammy and Shawn, wherever you are today, we hope you're thriving. You should be unbelievably proud of yourselves. And to Joanne, James and the emergency services, your courage deserves recognition too. You didn't just save somebody's life.
