So I work in a hospital. What happens with this usually is we have to rent a special bed like for size or it inflates or something.the patient was ordered for was discharged. And then the nurse that discharged that patient didn’t change out the bed. You get admitted and out in that rental bed. The problem with that is we have to then swap beds because that rental is being charged to that patient it was ordered for and they will continue to get charged for it.

When my husband needed open heart surgery and had to get a balloon pump in his leg they had a special standing bed that gets charged to the patients room they probably never removed the bed and just cleaned the room and you got put in the bed and someone else needed the bed OR they just didn’t want you using a million dollar bed and not paying for it.

iirc this happened with a hospital tht would rent out beds to pass inspections, and other sorta dubious thing. private equity is evil, although maybe its not the case here

As someone who requires a rental usually when I go, they have to remove the existing bed, but normally I’m there for about a day before that happens. The mattress is so thin. It hurts my back so bad.

For those that don’t know there are special bed that can be ordered by docs and it most likely forgotten about even when the new pt came in we do it sometimes it’s sucks but things get past us you’ll still get a regular bed it’s not anymore or less comfortable

for the air beds by the hospital, went to put a new patient in that room until the air bed is either been picked up her switched back to the regular bed
