@marinasmithwx: The worst storms don’t start with clouds, they start with lapse rates! Comment your thoughts down below! 👇🏼⛈️🌡️ #weather #meteorology #storm #Science #marinasmithwx
This is what we use where I work in Canada. Dry stable airmass in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. I love your demonstration.

whenever the national weather service states in their social media post about your area saying "steep (low, mid, etc) lapse rates this is what they mean, not only temperature but a significant steep gradient in dewpoint (moisture) decline or increase in more moisture or dryer air going up further into the atmosphere dry air thats also warmer or possibly more moist is less dense than cooler air that holds the same amount of dryness or moisture as they call wet and dry adiabats, these steep gradients in moisture cause the atmosphere to be very unstable, instability gives the atmosphere energy which is fuel for storms (Convective available potential energy)

that's a phrase I've never come across. Environmental lapse rate feels (now that I know) like common sense, but thank you so much for the new information!
