If I could give one piece of advice to every stylist working with closures, it’s this… please don’t be afraid to color them 🤍 I know it feels easier to try to order the exact perfect shade. And yes, you should absolutely get as close as possible when you’re ordering. But closures don’t stay that perfect shade forever. They fade. Honestly, I find they fade even faster than extensions because they’re sitting right on top of the head taking all the heat, sun, and daily exposure ☀️ So learning how to customize them is not optional if you want your work to stay seamless ✨ In this video I’m using a mascara wand and I swear it’s one of the best tools for this. It gives you control and lets you really soften and blend instead of over saturating. I’m using Schwarzkopf Vibrance 7-0, but you can use whatever color line you’re comfortable with. I also mix in conditioner to help melt everything together and avoid harsh lines 🫶🏼 The biggest thing I want you to pay attention to is this… take the color all the way up to the lace, but do not get it on the lace ⚠️ If you’re working with real Swiss lace and it stains, it’s not a quick fix. You’ll have to go back in and bleach the knots, and that process can weaken them and ruin your closure fast. It can also leave those tiny dark specs that make everything look less natural. Slow down, stay intentional, and keep your application clean 🤍 The closure I’m using here is from Kelly Maxwell Hair Extensions in the shade Abundance 💫
