@loughneagh: The Zombies - 🎵 - Time of the Season - 1968 One little handclap. That unmistakable breath. And suddenly you're hearing one of the most distinctive sounds of the entire sixties. 🎶 What a wonderful record The Zombies gave us with Time of the Season. That deep, hypnotic bass line, Colin Blunstone's cool, effortless-sounding voice, and Rod Argent's extraordinary organ playing. There's something almost magical about the way it all comes together. But have you ever wondered who made that famous breathing sound? It was Rod Argent himself. Colin Blunstone recalled how Rod added the handclap and breath almost on the spur of the moment. A tiny studio decision that became one of the most recognisable signatures in popular music. And the story of the record gets even more remarkable. The Zombies recorded Time of the Season in 1967, shortly before the original group went their separate ways. The song appeared on Odessey and Oracle in 1968, but its great American success didn't arrive until 1969. By then, The Zombies had already broken up. Their record was climbing towards No. 3 in America while the band that created it was no longer together. Incredible to think of it now. And yet, perhaps that's one of the wonderful things about music. A song can find its moment long after the people who made it have moved on to something else. All these years later, that bass line, handclap and breath still sound as distinctive as ever. And once you've heard the story behind them, those opening seconds feel even more special. When you hear Time of the Season, what catches you first — that famous opening rhythm, Colin Blunstone's voice, or Rod Argent's wonderful organ playing? 🎶❤️ #TheZombies #TimeOfTheSeason #SixtiesMusic #PsychedelicRock #ClassicOldies
