@spiritandsoiloutpost: Growing up in the country, we didn’t need much of a plan for the day. A tree to climb, a fence to cross, a field to wander through, and somehow we’d find ourselves on a whole adventure before supper. Nobody was checking the time. Nobody was wondering if we were being productive. And sitting on a tree limb with your bare feet dangling was a perfectly good way to spend an afternoon. 😂 Funny how somewhere along the way, we started thinking every hour needed a purpose. But maybe some of the best moments in life are the ones we don’t try to make anything out of. Psalm 111:2 says, “The works of the LORD are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure therein.” I love that word pleasure. There’s something beautiful about the idea that God made a world worth being curious about, worth exploring, and worth simply enjoying. So this Saturday, find a little something to partake in. Nothing grand. Nothing that needs checking off a list. Just something that makes you forget to look at the clock. Oh, this brings such sweet thoughts of how simple life used to be. There’s something about those memories that just warms my heart, isn’t there? We didn’t need much to make a day special, and we didn’t realize at the time just how precious those moments were. I love how you put this into words because it reminds me that life isn’t always about doing more or getting somewhere. Sometimes the best thing we can do is slow down, enjoy the day, and be thankful for the little things God puts right in front of us. Thank you for sharing this little piece of your memories with us. Oh my - your simple assignments - seem to trigger all kinds of adventurous memories - Maybe 🤔 it's just me - but as a chibling 🚸👦 we would get up before the sun to harvest -collecting eggs 🥚🥚 for breakfast... snapping beans and shucking corn 🌽 -was supposed to be everyday life on the farm - so how did looking for my aunt's dog before dark - turn into being chased by a bear 🐻 -or being thrown through an electric fence by a bull 🐂 that didn't want me to ride him ..... and so forth & so on - while other days were peaceful and calm - just feeding the ducks 🦆 and chickens 🤣😂
