✅ The Ultimate Home Building Checklist at BuilderBrigade.com
Most houses get Level 4 drywall. They mud the seams and screws and call it good.
Level 5 means they skim coat the whole wall and sand it smooth. Some guys offer a step above that called a "museum finish," but that's not an official term or anything.
You don't need Level 5 everywhere in most cases. It costs more. But on walls where sunlight from a big window hits at an angle, Level 4 shows every seam and bump. So it's worth the extra cheddar for Level 5 in high visibility areas.
Point out those walls to your builder before the drywall finishers start. After paint, it's too late, and you'll never go through the hassle to do it later.
