Oh gurl, I bought a bag of the pre wrapped prunes and kept them beside my bed on the nightstand. I did take stool softeners and MiraLAX just to make sure things moved smoothly. Those meds will destroy your poop and turn it into hard rocks. I didn’t need to use any of it until after surgery.

I ended up in the ER post surgery I was so backed up.. the pain meds back you up!! 100000% recommend magnesium citrate - taking a few gulps a day!

I would do stool softeners a few days before! That’s what they recommend for csection too! Bc the same thing with straining! Don’t wanna pop open 😭

Definitely get some miralax and take some (17gm, or 1 cap full) daily, immediately after surgery. Mix it into the prune juice. Then make sure and drink plenty of fluids throughout the day. Take it as long as you’re taking any opioid pain pills, multiple times per day-unless your stool starts getting TOO soft.
