When I was apartment shopping years back, I would use reverse psychology. During the tour even if there was nothing visually obvious, I would ask, “so what have you all done so far about the roach infestation?” You would be surprised how quickly they will volunteer information because they are caught off guard.

If anyone is struggling with this ... Get the insecticide on Amazon called Demon Max... The house I'm renting had a MASSIVE infestation of German roaches. This killed them ALL and kept them away since, along with any other bug. Don't get it in your skin, it gave me a chemical burn. It's strong af it works

I was a leasing manager and it’s so annoying that clean apartments can still get roaches just because your neighbors are nasty. Open the dishwasher and scoot the fridge out a little. If roaches are there they will be closest to a source of heat like appliances.

I can’t do roaches at all. After seeing 1 I’m ready to move. Matter fact before I sign anything. I’m checking every nook and cranny. Moving and rattling and shaking cabinets. Idgaf!

Honestly, it’s not always management's fault—it only takes one bad neighbor moving in with infested boxes to spread roaches to everyone above, below, and next to them. I lived in a bug free building until homegirl 3 doors down moved in.
