A federal judge just ordered Donald Trump to sit under oath for seven hours, or lose his own ten-billion-dollar lawsuit. In Miami, Magistrate Judge Enjoliqué Lett set a hard deadline: December eleventh. If he does not appear by then, she warned, his case could be dismissed. The deposition will be video-recorded: the judge rejected his lawyers' attempt to block the cameras. This is Trump's own lawsuit. He sued over a BBC documentary that spliced together parts of his January sixth speech. The BBC admitted the editing was wrong and apologized, but denies defamation. He seeks five billion for defamation, five billion more under Florida law. The BBC's lawyer said they still have not deposed the plaintiff, though a date was agreed for October sixteenth. Trump canceled, citing matters of national importance. The BBC says he was campaigning in Georgia that day. The BBC's attorney put it bluntly: he chose party politics over sitting for the deposition. So now the question is simple. Will he show up and answer under oath, or will he drop the case? December eleventh will decide it.
