Like her snapping in this version wasnt even completely her? I loved it, and I don’t think anyone could maintain the tone of the original over so many hours. That would be BLEAK and depressing, but we also didn’t get the catharsis of Carrie’s anger

YES! I was the bullied kid, but I was also raised in a high control Pentecostal church and as an adult CRINGE at the way I would proselytize to CATHOLICS or had legitimately harmful beliefs due to my upbringing. I had to experience the discomfort of learning my beliefs were harmful and not biblical so I could become a better person, and that’s a part of the tragedy of Carrie— she died before she reached that point, and she died legitimately believing that everyone at prom was in on the joke against her. People saying that Carrie has to be nice and sweet and a perfect victim in order for the audience to sympathize with her ruins the entire point of Carrie

I didn’t feel like she was “perfect victim “ here just sympathetic. She accidentally killed her first victims, She willingly let Agnes take over (which was a conscious choice) until Chris and willingly killed chris on her own volition

The new Carrie kinda made me feel for her mother towards the end and her death didn't really feel justified this time around

If I ever adapted Carrie, I’d have her act kind of paranoid. She’s constantly asking worried questions about certain behaviors and decisions and asking if it will send her or her peers to hell.

I hate that they made Carrie was "possessed" by emmaline. in all Carrie films and in the book, SHE was ALWAYS the one doing the massacre. ONLY HER. THAT is the WHOLE point of the story. I am sorry but Mike creating emmaline and having her "take the wheel" for Carrie RUINS THE STORY. she stole Carrie's thunder, she dim Carrie's glow, she stole Carrie's revenge. I thought I was watching Carrie, not "Emmaline". even if this isn’t the original story, it removes majority of the emotional weight that prom night was supposed to have. emaline was completely unneeded in that scene

I also found it weird that in 2026, when thr class seemed genuinely happy for her win, that not a single girl asked if she was all right after the blood was dumped.

I don't like the narrative of the perfect victim, especially that moment where Sue cries and is like "she was so kind", because that kinda implies that the victim who is not perfect, who is not kind, would deserve it 😅. I prefer it when flawed characters just get to be flawed.

i hate how they want to turn Carrie into a new Stranger Things when it should just be a one-season series.

nah. as the bullied one, I did nothing to deserve the hate I got. neither did you. being weird shouldn't translate into being abused.

I don't trust folks who see Carrie as a revenge fantasy rather than a tragedy.

I really like the addition of the wider Stephen King mythology and the way the “shine” has been brought into Carrie. It ties her abilities much more tangibly into the psychic world we see elsewhere in King’s universe, while also giving the story room to grow beyond the relatively short original novel. It definitely opens up some really interesting possibilities if they want to take it into a second season. Personally, I’d love to see Carrie eventually cross paths with the True Knot and explore more of their lore beyond what we saw in Doctor Sleep. Carrie’s abilities have always seemed extraordinarily powerful, even by Stephen King standards, so there’s a lot they could potentially do with that connection. My only slight disappointment is that it isn’t set within the original timeline, because if I had my way, I’d somehow make Carrie Abra Stone’s grandmother. 😂 It would be such a satisfying explanation for why Abra is so exceptionally powerful — that level of psychic/telepathic/telekinetic ability running through the family would fit beautifully into the wider King universe. Overall, I really like the direction they’re taking it. It feels less like simply stretching Carrie into a longer adaptation and more like using the extra time to properly connect her to the mythology that King developed across his other stories.

Idk… I was young, autistic, and into horror too. I barely had friends. Nobody was throwing rocks at me! That is not okay and not your fault!

imo thats kinda why her destruction of the town is like super important to the message of the story. you can deduct that many people at the prom just didn't gaf about her but the destruction of the town really solidifies not only how carrie saw those around her but also that she was broken at this point. even if she lived, there was likely no chance she would be even close to normal again

I can't leave you relate d rowling Up as The weird kid and then looking back and and realizing why you weren't exactly popular back in the day. but it didn't hit me until I saw Carrie reflected in my cousin. my cousin has a lot of allergies , she's been mistreated by her peers and our family, and I used to try to be her friend and try to be kind to her, but my cousins also religious extremists , she's constantly making up rumors that I am sleeping with men , I am a lesbian. she doesn't like her little sister interact with things like Hercules are epic because it depicts other gods. and on top of that she voted it for Trump. and I realized that yeah maybe I wouldn't have been the kid who be friend it carry and that Miss White is more complex than a lot of people give her credit.
