I think one of the hardest things to explain is what it feels like to slowly lose yourself in a relationship. Because it doesn’t happen overnight. You don’t wake up one day and suddenly become a different person. It happens little by little, until one day you look in the mirror and barely recognize the person staring back at you. Looking at these pictures is emotional because I can actually see the light leaving my eyes. I can see the girl who existed before the heartbreak, the woman who tried so hard to hold everything together, and the version of me who was simply trying to survive. But what gets me the most is seeing that light come back. Not all at once. Not the day I filed for divorce. Not even the day the papers were signed. But slowly, through the grief, the fear, the uncertainty, and the process of rebuilding a life I never imagined I’d have to start over. And if you’re in the middle of something that is breaking you right now, I hope you know this: The person you were before the pain is not gone forever. You may never be exactly who you were before, but that doesn’t mean you can’t become someone who laughs freely, loves life, feels peace, and recognizes herself in the mirror again. I had a life before him. I had happiness before him. And for a while, I forgot that those things were ever mine to begin with. But they were. And they still are. You can lose yourself for a while and still find your way home. ❤️ #DivorceRecovery #HealingAfterDivorce #StartingOver #singlemom #LifeAfterDivorce
