@fixmylifenyc: Finding a piece of home on the other side of the world. If you work remotely and come from a qualifying country you can move to Japan like me and make this your home 6 months out of the year. The digital nomad visa was released a couple years ago and it allows you to live and work remotely in Japan for a foreign employer for 6 months. This visa is perfect for people who live in Asia and have multiple digital nomad visas and want to avoid becoming a tax resident anywhere. In my example I have japans digital nomad visa and I also have thailands DTV. Giving both these visas allows me to legally live and work remotely in these countries. Caution. For japans digital nomad visa you need to also have citizenship from one of the qualifying countries. Dominican Republic isn't one of them but the U.S. is and I hold both passports. Now Dominicans can come as dependents of the main applicant of this visa. So if you have a U.S. passport but your partner is Dominican that isn't a problem.
