Tucked away in the mountains of West Virginia sits Sweet Springs, a massive historic resort with a past that stretches back to the late 1700s. What began as a luxurious destination known for its mineral springs eventually became the Andrew S. Rowan Memorial Home, caring for elderly residents until its closure in 1991. But according to paranormal investigators, the building hasn't been entirely quiet since. Disembodied voices, unexplained footsteps, cold spots, and shadow figures are just some of the activity reportedly experienced within its aging walls. Sweet Springs even caught the attention of Destination Fear, which investigated the property in 2019. Unfortunately, it's not the paranormal activity putting this historic property in the spotlight today. In 2024, Ashby Berkley, the man who purchased Sweet Springs in 2015 and worked toward restoring it, passed away. Following his death, a dispute involving competing wills placed the property's future in legal uncertainty. With questions surrounding ownership and the continuation of restoration efforts, the future of paranormal investigations at Sweet Springs remains uncertain as well. For years, investigators have had opportunities to explore these halls, but whether those opportunities will continue is something only time will tell.
