On our Get to Know OCD podcast, @rainn wilson. opened up about his personal experience with OCD and how, for him, much of it happened internally through rumination, mental compulsions, and endless thought loops. He shared an example that we know so many people with OCD can relate to: getting stuck thinking about something you did 10 years ago and questioning whether it makes you a bad person. You might replay the memory over and over, analyze every detail, or seek reassurance from yourself or others that you’re a good person. But as Rainn explains, that reassurance is never quite enough. Even when you’re 99% certain, OCD can latch onto that remaining 1% of doubt and keep the thought loop going. This is something we want more people to understand about OCD. Compulsions aren’t always visible, and reassurance seeking can happen entirely in your head. While reassurance might bring temporary relief, repeatedly seeking it can actually reinforce the OCD cycle and make those doubts feel even more urgent. We’re so grateful to Rainn for being open about his experiences and helping shed light on the less visible ways OCD can show up. Especially during OCD Awareness Week, conversations like these are so important because they help people recognize what they might be going through, feel less alone, and understand that getting better is possible. #ocd #ocdawareness #intrusivethoughts #ocdproblems #ocdrecovery
