Just use a scribe block. 10x faster and easier. Those jigs are good for treads that have skirt boards on both sides.

I can do that with a square and a tape myself. But stairs are a big deal and quality craftsmanship is hard to come by. So hats off to you, you keep doing what you're doing, don't let me steer you in a direction the old guys used to use, hopefully you can sell a few of them tools make you a couple dollars.\n Tool selling never came into the game for us. You had to buy the tool you needed and make sure you didn't mess it up. Cause you're gonna need it tomorrow and the next day and the day after too many tools in the truck turns into a truck full of tools. And then you gotta start looking for tools unless you're good at organizing , which i've never been again , hats off to you , buddy
