@fredatika6: Pakistan is facing a growing cooking gas crisis after the closure of key border crossings with Iran halted LPG imports, triggering shortages and sharp price increases. According to sources ,Pakistan imports approximately 7,000 metric tonnes of LPG daily from Iran, with more than 4,000 tonnes passing through the Gabd-Rimdan crossing alone. The disruption has sent prices soaring. Traders report that a 12-kilogram LPG cylinder in parts of Balochistan has risen from around 4,500 to 7,000 Pakistani rupees within days. Prices have reportedly reached 8,200 rupees in Skardu. The closures began on October 17. Pakistani authorities cited security concerns and efforts to combat smuggling, while Iranian officials pointed to technical issues. The crisis has also stranded hundreds of trucks and disrupted cross-border trade, raising concerns about further price increases as winter approaches. Pakistan has reaffirmed its commitment to applicable international sanctions while maintaining diplomatic contacts with both Washington and Tehran. However, it remains unclear whether US pressure directly influenced the border closures.#Pakistan #Iran #LPGCrisis #EnergyCrisis #USSanctions
