Please like, comment, and SHARE! 🙏 🔍 Episode Overview: On February 5, 2025, around 1:30 in the morning, Officer Erin DeVries from the Downers Grove Police spotted a blue 2024 Nissan Kicks speeding westbound on Ogden Avenue near Woodward. The car was going at 55 MPH in a 35 MPH zone. A white Toyota Prius was close behind it. Officer DeVries turned on her lights to pull the Nissan over at Ogden and Authority Drive. The vehicle stopped at Illinois 355 and Ogden Avenue. She approached the driver, identified as 25-year-old Alexis Wroblewski. While talking to Alexis, the officer smelled alcohol and saw an open High Noon Seltzer can inside the car. Alexis explained she was heading home after a Chicago Bulls game. The officer noticed signs of impairment, and Alexis admitted she had been drinking earlier that evening. Officer DeVries asked Alexis to recite the alphabet from “E” to “W,” but she couldn’t do it correctly. She also failed to count backwards from “56” to “49.” When Deputy Kanis from the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office arrived to help, Alexis was asked to step out for field sobriety tests. The first test was Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus. During this, the officer saw her eyes jerking abnormally, with issues following the pen. The nystagmus occurred before 45 degrees, and vertical nystagmus showed in both eyes. Next, she did the Walk and Turn test but didn’t touch heel-to-toe, turned the wrong way, and kept her arms at her sides. The last test was the One Leg Stand. Alexis couldn’t lift her foot properly or count correctly. After the tests, Officer DeVries offered a breath test. The results showed a BAC of 0.181%. Her reckless driving, her own words about drinking, the open container, her poor test performance, and the breath test all pointed to intoxication. She was placed under arrest for DUI. Alexis was handcuffed, put in the patrol car, and taken to the Downers Grove Police Department. There, she was read her rights and agreed to give breath samples. The subsequent test showed a BAC of 0.165%, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08%. She admitted drinking vodka and tequila earlier. After processing, she was released around 3:45 AM, allowed to call an Uber home. Her charges include driving under the influence with a BAC over 0.08, driving under the influence of alcohol, open container possession, and speeding. 0:22 she almost made it home.
