Respectfully, I think this is a terrible narrative. I think pushing the idea of soulmates, or that only one person can provide the same level of love and emotional intimacy is detrimental to how people perceive and act on love. It’s fact that there will be someone who you connect with greater than anyone before and that you love more than anyone else, but to say that feeling can only be found in one person can cause excessive pain and longing. I think it’s important to be open to the experience of loving someone as deeply as you last loved someone, even if that is inherently painful to think about
