It could be something on the grass or those giant dipped knee bones. But if he lets you try to wash his paws off with warm epsom salt water then put some kid socks on them. Then repeat when he comes in from outside. If that’s not helping it could be something stuck in there you can’t see. It might be food related but if it was he’d probably have a rash on his tummy and back.
