The whole idea behind everyone having nukes is M.A.D. which ya know works. but I really want to write a short story of these two sides of a war, showing that both sides have done horrible things, and by the end it escalates to nuking each other. but. one side or maybe something smaller decides not to launch their own nukes, not because they hope the other side won't or anything, they know without a doubt that they're gonna die. they just don't think it should be the end of everything for humanity and SOMEONE should survive even if it's their enemy.
